Prohibited, Restricted, and Allowed Transactions
Users must comply with all applicable laws, Gun Transfer terms and conditions, and all posted site rules.
Class III NFA Weapons/ Title II Firearms cannot be transferred with Gun Transfer.
Gun Transfer currently only supports in-state transfers (buyer and seller must be a resident of the same state at the time of the transfer). Stay tuned for future product releases that allow state-to-state transfers.
Users must follow their state-specific rules, as outlined below, and be legally eligible to own a firearm based on their state and federal laws.

Alabama

California

Colorado
- Colorado passed several restrictive gun laws making traditional private party gun transfers illegal. In most situations, a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) must be involved. There are several exceptions where a gun owner could use Gun Transfer to transfer their firearm. Below are the requirements for transfer with Gun Transfer:
- The firearm is a bona fide gift between immediate family members (Spouses, Parents, Children, Siblings, Grandparents, Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, First Cousins, Aunts, and Uncles).
- The transfer is necessary because of the death of a person and the Transferor is an executor, administrator, or trustee of an estate or trust created by a will.
- Users must be 18 or older for rifle and shotgun transfers and 21 years old or older for handgun transfers.
- The firearm cannot include large-capacity ammunition magazines (more than 15 rounds). Some exceptions apply such as 22 rifles – see House Bill 13-1224 for additional details.

- Users must be 18 or older
Georgia

Hawaii
- Users must be 21 or older
- Sellers must verify that the buyer has a permit to acquire a handgun or long gun – buyers will be able to upload an image of their permit in Gun Transfer
Idaho
- Users must be 18 or older
Illinois
- Users must be 21 or older
- Sellers must verify that the buyer has a FOID card – buyers will be able to upload an image of their FOID card in Gun Transfer
- Sellers must verify with the state of Illinois that the FOID card is valid PRIOR to completing the transfer – this can be done at the following website: https://www.ispfsb.com/Public/Home.aspx

- Users must be 18 or older
Iowa
- Users must be 18 or older
- Handgun buyers must be 21 or older
- If selling a handgun, the seller must confirm that the buyer has a concealed handgun permit or a handgun purchase license – buyers will be able to upload an image of their concealed handgun permit or handgun purchase license in Gun Transfer
Kansas

- Handgun buyers must be 21 or older
- Sellers must verify the buyer’s permit to acquire a handgun or permit to acquire a rifle or shotgun (FPIC or Firearm Purchaser Identification Card) – buyers will be able to upload an image of their permits in Gun Transfer
- Buyers must acquire a new permit to acquire a handgun for each handgun transaction
- Buyer’s FPIC can be used unlimited times to purchase a shotgun or rifle
