FFL Dealers in Colorado

1,121 federally licensed firearms dealers across Colorado, from the ATF’s published licensee list. Pick a city for names, addresses and phone numbers.

This is the ATF licensee list — who holds a licence and where. It is not opening hours, not transfer fees, and not a guarantee that a given dealer handles private-party transfers. Call before you drive.

What Colorado requires for a private transfer

  • Colorado requires every private firearm sale to go through a licensed dealer, so an FFL is not optional here — you need one of the dealers below.
  • There is a 3-day waiting period in Colorado between purchase and taking possession.
  • Colorado requires a permit to purchase for some firearms.
  • Colorado exempts a genuine gift or loan between immediate family — but not a sale. If money changes hands, even between relatives, the transfer goes through the full process.
  • Universal background check. 21 to purchase any firearm (C.R.S. 18-12-112.5). 3-day wait on dealer AND private sales (18-12-115). Family exemption covers a bona fide gift or loan only, NOT a sale (18-12-112(6)(b)). Firearms Safety Course Eligibility Card required for specified semiautomatics since 2026-08-01 (18-12-116).

Cities in Colorado

Another 442 Colorado dealers are in towns with fewer than 8 licensees each, so they do not have a page of their own. Search by ZIP code to find those.

Doing the transfer itself

A dealer handles the background check. The bill of sale, both parties’ records and a permanent copy of the paperwork are what Gun Transfer does — $50 flat, about ten minutes.
