FFL Dealers in Maryland

538 federally licensed firearms dealers across Maryland, from the ATF’s published licensee list. Pick a city for names, addresses and phone numbers.

This is the ATF licensee list — who holds a licence and where. It is not opening hours, not transfer fees, and not a guarantee that a given dealer handles private-party transfers. Call before you drive.

What Maryland requires for a private transfer

  • Maryland requires every private firearm sale to go through a licensed dealer, so an FFL is not optional here — you need one of the dealers below.
  • There is a 7-day waiting period in Maryland between purchase and taking possession.
  • Maryland requires a permit to purchase for some firearms.
  • Maryland exempts some transfers between family members, but the exemption is narrower than people expect and does not cover every relative or every kind of transfer. Check before relying on it.
  • Handgun Qualification License required to receive a HANDGUN (Pub. Safety 5-117.1 - barrel under 16 inches). 7-day wait. Private rifle and shotgun sales must also be dealer-facilitated with a NICS check (5-204.1); immediate family is exempt from that one.

Another 378 Maryland dealers are in towns with fewer than 8 licensees each, so they do not have a page of their own. Search by ZIP code to find those.

Doing the transfer itself

A dealer handles the background check. The bill of sale, both parties’ records and a permanent copy of the paperwork are what Gun Transfer does — $50 flat, about ten minutes.
